Employees who are authorized by the State of Michigan Secretary of State as Notary Public will
receive an annual stipend of $200 each February. The employee shall provide documentation
during the month of January, each year showing their status is current/active. The bonus shall be
in effect if the City is routinely processing notary services for the public. This bonus is at the
discretion of the City and can be changed/discontinued at any time.
Passport Acceptance Agent
Employees who are authorized by the Department of State as a Passport Acceptance Agent will
receive an annual stipend of $300 each February. The passport manager shall receive an annual
stipend of $450 each February. The employee shall provide documentation during the month of
January, each year showing their status is current/active. The bonus shall be in effect if the City is
routinely processing passports for the public. This bonus is at the discretion of the City and can be
changed/discontinued at any time.
Additional Certifications/Accreditations
Employees that receive/maintain additional certifications/accreditations may be provided a onetime or ongoing stipend at the discretion of the City Manager.
Bereavement Leave:

Full-Time and ¾ Time Employees shall be allowed the following leaves of absence, with
pay, as bereavement leave:
•
Five days for the death of an immediate family member.
•
Three days for the death of an extended family member.
Immediate Family:
Spouse/Domestic Partner: Current spouse/domestic partner.
Children: This includes biological, adopted, step, and foster children.
Parents: This includes biological, adoptive, step and foster parents.
Siblings: This includes biological, step, and half-siblings.
Extended Family:
Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins
In-Laws: Parents-in-law, siblings-in-law, or other in-laws.
Grandparents
Any additional time taken must then be deducted from the employee’s accumulated
vacation, personal or compensatory leave.
Bereavement leave will not be deducted from the employee's accumulated paid leave time. If
an employee is currently utilizing vacation, sick, personal or compensatory time and
bereavement leave is needed, the employee may request to modify their paid time usage.
